Christian Things that Give me The Ick
I thought I’d had enough with churchy people but was chided when stating this because I am, in fact, a churchy person having been a part of religious bodies my entire life. Only, the genre of churchy I’m done with has some specifics.

I won’t debate that social media is a great vehicle to share the gospel but I do stand firm in that certain churchy folks make being a Christian who also happens to be online, particularly lame.
Some folks hashtag every thought they’ve ever had about God so much so that I wouldn’t be surprised that the world knows more about their relationship with Christ than they actually do.
#Godsfavorite #FindingFavor #iloveGod #Godchangedme #Isn’tHeGood for under 30’s* online is somehow the equivalent to a pick me with no sense of keeping some things personal to keep them sacred. A fact wrapped in a hashtag concerning something that should be private only comes off as jejune.
*The age distinction is important here because under 30s and above 30s use social media in different ways and with different intentions. As someone under 30 myself, I find that age-mates exhibiting this behavior are usually overcompensating and/or socially performing religion whereas over 30’s are at times communicating a message in a way they think more…
